Cops sued over breast implant: Ruptured breast implant was result of police mistreatment, Texas woman claims in lawsuit


A North Texas woman who says a Pant-ego police officer caused her breast implant to rupture during an arrest is suing the department.


Rebecca Van Hoosier of Arlington, Texas,  said the officer threw her against her car on Oct. 28, 2011, when he arrested her during a traffic stop.

The Pant-ego officer pulled her over on a headlight violation and arrested her after learning she had a warrant for an unpaid speeding ticket.

Crime does pay for bank robber allowed to keep $82K

Otto Neuman stole more than $240,000 in cash as well as gold coins and bars from an Austrian bank 19 years ago, ultimately spending 3 1/2 years behind bars for his crime. Neuman was the bank's own manager until personal financial troubles led him to stage the heist. By the time he was apprehended, Neuman had run through all but $82,000 of the money, which police recovered, along with the gold. The bank, though, was insured for the robbery, and the insurance company made its money back with the gold bars, so, showing an impressive lack of logic, a court tracked Neuman down to return the money. "The money has been transferred [to Neuman's account]," his lawyer confirmed

The nanny suspected of slaying a Manhattan professional couple's two young children began stabbing herself as the mother entered the bathroom and began screaming when she saw the dead bodies in the bathtub, New York's police commissioner said on Friday.

The nanny, YoSelyn Ortega, had been employed by the family of Kevin and Marina Krim for two years before police said she killed their children and attempted suicide on Thursday in the family's luxury apartment, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Whitney Heichel slaying found through intense investigation by police, volunteers



Heichel kissed her husband goodbye before heading out into the chilly, damp air.

Alexis Wright, 29, has pleaded not guilty to 106 counts related to alleged prostitution at her fitness studio.On it: the names of 21 people accused by police of buying sex from a 29-year-old fitness instructor. And it's the talk of Kennebunk, the historic, picture-perfect Maine town that had been -- until recently, at least -- best known for its bygone shipbuilding industry and a money-making tourist trade.

Investigation into Amanda Todd's death nets 400 tips from around the globe



VANCOUVER -- In life, Amanda Todd feared she was all alone; In death, she has captured the attention of people from around the world, focusing a spotlight on the plight of those who continue to face down the torments of bullies.

The RCMP announced Saturday that more than 400 tips from around the globe have poured into an email account, set up after the apparent suicide of the 15-year-old Port Coquitlam, B.C. teen.

Meantime, media from around the world, including online publications in England, the United States, Australia and Asia, have picked up the tragic tale.

Authorities: Body Is That of Missing Colo. Girl


The weeklong search for a 10-year-old Colorado girl became a murder investigation after authorities identified a body found in a suburban Denver park as that of fifth-grader Jessica Ridgeway.

"Our focus has changed from the search for Jessica to a mission of justice for Jessica," Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk said Friday. "We recognize there is a predator at large in our community."

Anxious parents kept close watch over their children. Fueling the frustration: The FBI again urged residents to report any suspicious activity by people they know.

 Canada was in uproar Friday over a 15-year-old schoolgirl who was found dead, an apparent suicide, five weeks after she uploaded a video to YouTube describing years of bullying that drove her to drugs and alcohol.
Coroner Barb McLintock said Thursday night that preliminary indications suggest the British Columbia girl, Amanda Todd, killed herself. Her school district's spokeswoman, Cheryl Quinton, confirmed the girl in the video was her.
In the 9-minute video posted on Sept. 7, the 10th-grader and cheerleader didn't speak but told her story in haunting detail in a series of handwritten notes that she held up to the camera.
She said she was lured by a stranger to expose her breasts on a webcam and the picture ended up on a Facebook page made by the stranger, to which her friends were added.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- A body found in a suburban Denver park was identified Friday as that of a missing 10-year-old girl, as anxious parents kept close watch over their children because of the potential presence of a predator in their midst, authorities said.

The body of Jessica Ridgeway was found Wednesday about 7 miles southwest of her home. Authorities said it was not intact, and DNA was used to identify her.

"Our focus has changed from the search for Jessica to a mission of justice for Jessica," Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk said.

MILEY CYRUS Scissor-Wielding Intruder Convicted of Trespassing


1011-miley-cyrus-arrest-newsreel-article-2The scissor-wielding man who allegedly snuck onto Miley Cyrus' property last month has just been convicted of trespassing, TMZ has learned.

Jason Luis Rivera was also found guilty of resisting arrest today in an L.A. courtroom. He faces up to 18 months behind bars.

Jason had pled "not guilty" to the charges following his arrest but was still ordered to stay 500 yards away from the singer and her home.

Colorado police discover body in search for Jessica Ridgeway

Colorado police who have been searching for a missing 10-year-old girl since Friday said they found a body in the vicinity of where the girl went missing.
As of Thursday morning, police were unable to confirm that the body belongs to Jessica Ridgeway. The body was found in Pattridge Park Open Space late Wednesday near an abandoned mining shack, KDVR.com reported. 
Police said the search for the missing girl will resume on Thursday

Jerry Sandusky receives 30- to 60-year sentence

Jerry Sandusky was sentenced Tuesday to at least 30 years in prison -- effectively a life sentence -- in the child sexual abuse scandal that brought shame to Penn State and led to coach Joe Paterno's downfall.

Judge John Cleland sentenced the 68-year-old former assistant football coach to 30 years minimum to 60 years maximum in prison. Under Pennsylvania law, Sandusky cannot be released on parole before the minimum term is up.

A special Sunday service is being held this morning at St Peter's Church in Machynlleth in remembrance of missing April Jones.
It is almost a week since the five-year-old, who suffers from cerebral palsy, disappeared while playing near her home in the town.Mark Bridger, 46, was last night charged with her abduction and murder, and of perverting the course of justice.
