Otto Neuman stole more than $240,000 in cash as well as gold coins and bars from an Austrian bank 19 years ago, ultimately spending 3 1/2 years behind bars for his crime. Neuman was the bank's own manager until personal financial troubles led him to stage the heist. By the time he was apprehended, Neuman had run through all but $82,000 of the money, which police recovered, along with the gold. The bank, though, was insured for the robbery, and the insurance company made its money back with the gold bars, so, showing an impressive lack of logic, a court tracked Neuman down to return the money.
