SEATTLE -- On the morning before they were supposed to be married, U.S. women's soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo and former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens were involved in an altercation that left Stevens in jail and their wedding plans up in the air, police said.

Tennessee NCAAA Tennessee State University freshman dies after collapsing on the field player, 19, collapses, dies


A NCAA player, 19, collapses, dies State freshman defensive back has collapsed during practice and was later declared dead at a hospital.

William Wayne Jones III, a freshman walk-on from Smyrna, Tenn., had just caught a ball and was throwing it to defensive backs coach Ed Sanders when he collapsed Wednesday afternoon. Trainers found the 19-year-old Jones unconscious with no pulse.

Alabama Football: The Epic Battle of Death Valley vs. LSU


Beneath him and beneath the peaceful sky and orange autumn moon, there was a major storm a-brewin’.  It was one that would have made him smile and nod his head.

Dominican Today and several Spanish-language newspapers reported Perez, 55, suffered a fatal stab wound to the neck during the apparent robbery at his home in Haina, about 10 miles west of the capital Santo Domingo. Perez received his Major League Baseball pension payment the previous day, Dominican Today reported.

The Miami Heat found a way to beat their biggest rival anyway.


Dwyane Wade scored 29 points, James finished 26 points and 10 rebounds while missing much of the second half, and the reigning NBA champion Heat beat the Boston Celtics 120-107 on Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams.

There is a lot that can happen with four games remaining, however. Anything can happen when you're talking about college kids, and that's just another reason why college football is great.


But let's predict what will happen with Notre Dame. Will the Irish run the table? Will they be upset? Will they fall at USC?

Mila Kunis is at the centre of a pregnancy riddle after the actress was seen out on Saturday sporting what looked like a baby bump during a romantic stroll with boyfriend Ashton Kutcher, 34.

Mila, 29, and Ashton's relationship has moved on swiftly, with the pair already living together, months after the Two And A Half Men's star's split from wife Demi Moore.


And seen out wearing a striped vest, the young Black Swan star appeared to be showing a definite roundness in the stomach area.

college football:star tailback Marcus Lattimore to injury


The injury cast a pall over the snapping of South Carolina's two-game losing streak. The Gamecocks (7-2, 5-2 Southeastern) have beaten the Volunteers three games in a row for the first time.
The Volunteers (3-5, 0-5) drove to the Gamecocks' 19 with 1:08 to go before losing a fumble.
The calls in Knoxville, Tenn., for coach Derek Dooley to be fired are sure to grow louder.
"Well, that was another tough
finish," Dooley said.

South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore taken to hospital with apparent knee injury


South Carolina star Marcus Lattimore was taken to a hospital and is out indefinitely because of an injury to his right knee suffered against Tennessee on Saturday.

Lattimore was running through the left side when he was struck around the knees by Volunteers defensive back Eric Gordon, Lattimore’s right leg whipping around and slamming against the turf. South Carolina trainers immediately rushed to his side, keeping Lattimore flat on his back as the junior attempted to sit up and see the injury.

The South Carolina running back, who tore an ACL last year and battled all the way back, suffered an injury that looked as ugly as any we've ever seen.

Latti more, considered one of if not the top running back for next year's NFL Draft had he decided to come out a year early, was running to his left. Tennessee defensive back Eric Gordon tackled him low, and Latti more's leg collapsed. When he went down, replays showed what clearly looked like a dislocation in his leg.

Kronk Gym The star of boxing Emanuel Steward died today, his sister, Diane Steward-Jones, told the Free Press.

Steward, who had been in a Chicago-area hospital for several weeks after undergoing surgery for what was termed diverticulitis, died at 2:46 p.m. Detroit time, Steward-Jones said. He was 68.
Steward-Jones, who handled business and public relations for Steward, said she and several family members were by his side.
