Don't miss out on God's love; it's the greatest blessing we'll ever know

Do you believe that God loves you? I'd dare say that all who are reading these words would answer that question in the affirmative. You are either an atheist, agnostic or a very bitter, cynical person if you don't believe that God loves you.
Let me ask you a second question: Do you believe that He loves you unconditionally? By this I mean is there anything that we could ever do that would cause God to feel any different toward us?
We are told in First John that God is love. It is in His very nature to show His care and compassion toward us.

God loves both the saint and the sinner. He shows His loving kindness toward us even when we fall to our lowest point of moral and/or spiritual decay. He shows His mercy toward us when we are at our best and at our worst.

There is nothing that can ever change how God feels about us. God loves the unlovable. He cares for those whom no one else can care for.

We sometimes look at the lowest forms of humanity and wonder how God could ever have compassion on them. We look at all of the mass murderers and rapists out there and those who commit heinous and unthinkable crimes against humanity and wonder how God can ever love them.

But God is perfect in every way. God can love the most vile sinner because it is who and what He is.

God can extend the same hope and forgiveness to those who have lived a hardened and rebellious life against Him and have shown no regard to Him or His laws as He does anyone else who comes to Him with a repentant heart and a desire to know Him.

I can't help but feel sorry for those who do not know how great, mighty and powerful the love of God is.

In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul draws the conclusion that there's no barrier or obstacle that we can ever encounter that can block us from the love of God. The greatest part of all is that it is in reach of everyone.

When you talk about the love of God, you are talking about the most powerful forces known on earth and in heaven.

God's great love for every human being was the compelling force behind God sending His Son into the world to die for our sins.

While God is perfect in His love for us, God is perfect in His justice. He gave us His law to govern our lives, but He knew that we could never live up to the law.

The Bible says in Romans 5:8, "But God commends his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Even when we were unfit and not worthy of His consideration, Christ showed us His mercy and grace and took our sins upon Himself and died for us.

You may say, "Yes, but that was long ago. We are living in a whole different world than first-century people. I totally agree with you. The world has grown dramatically and has vastly changed since the days that Christ walked the earth, but the human heart has not.

The soul of the human spirit is very much the same as it was back then. It has been said that the more things change, the more they remain the same. Jeremiah said, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (17:9)

People have been trying to figure out the human mind forever. It is extremely complex and mystifying. It is as diverse as the individual. Each mind is unique to the person who has it. Like the human fingerprint, no two people are alike in that regard.

This is what makes a person who and what they are. We are all different because God made us that way.

No one can understand us like God can. He knows all things about us, right down to the very thoughts of our mind. He knows what makes us tick. He knows the needs of the human heart.

While we are all different in many ways, we are all alike in many others. One such way is to love and be loved. All of us respond to this very powerful emotion.

Yet, there are so many out there today who are searching to find this in its truest and richest forms. Too often people are turning up empty because they are looking for it in all of the wrong places.

They think they can find it in sex. They think they can find it in the right man or woman. But real, true and genuine love can only be found in God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and it is manifested in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.

If you know God through a personal relationship with the Lord, then you know the love of God. You can give witness to how it has changed and revolutionized your life.

Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). The love of God in our hearts should motivate us to live our lives in such a way as to bring honor and glory to Him.

We should start each day with a prayer thanking Him for His great love and asking Him to show us how we can serve Him better.

If you don't know the love of God, then you are missing out on the greatest blessing of life. The God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son into this world to suffer and die for us has made it possible to know Him as our Lord and Savior.

In closing, let me just remind you of those old familiar words of Jesus when He said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life"
